Iresine herbstii Redstar

Iresine herbstii is a plant star that is currently all the rage, as its distinctive dark leaves with bright pink veins make it an exciting eye-catcher. A real must-have for collectors of colorful exotic plants.

Ben's tips on plant care:

- Location/light requirements: bright, indirect light, avoid midday sun
- Substrate: nutrient-rich green plant soil with good drainage
- Temperature: optimal at 20-25° C (day), 17-19° C (night), do not allow to cool below 10° C
- Watering: water approx. once a week as soon as the top layer of substrate begins to dry, less frequently in winter, avoid waterlogging at all costs, ideally water with lukewarm, low-lime rainwater
- Humidity: requires high humidity, place in terrarium or bathroom or use humidifier
- Addition of nutrients: in spring/summer, fertilize moderately every 2-4 weeks with diluted organic fertilizer. Fertilize with liquid fertilizer
- If the bright leaf colors fade, the plant may need a brighter location, but it does not tolerate full midday sun.
- Regular pruning below the node promotes growth.
- Repot approximately every 2 years once the soil is densely rooted.
